My name is Sarah K Peck.
I’m an author, startup advisor, and yoga teacher based in New York City. I founded Startup Parent in 2017 as a place to create conversations, community, and change in the lives of working parents and women in leadership.
I write and speak about leadership, parenting, gender, and entrepreneurship. My writing and work have been featured in Harvard Business Review, The New York Times, Fast Company, Inc, Psychology Today, and more. I’ve spoken at Harvard, Penn, Berkeley, the University of Virginia, Quantic School of Business & Technology, Be On Deck, and at conferences around the globe.

We’ve done more than 200 interviews with parents about what it actually looks like to be a parent and a mother in today’s world. The Startup Parent Podcast is an award-winning podcast with over a hundred five-star reviews that is ranked in the top 1% of all podcasts globally.
Our mission is to tell the truth about motherhood and fatherhood, and expand the range of ideas we have about what we are “supposed” to be doing as parents and entrepreneurs. In our parenting stories, we strive to tell the entire range of stories, from the early beginnings of fertility and infertility journeys, to uncertainty or hope around becoming a parent, to step-parents and bonus parents and non-default parents.
Our business stories are also focused on what’s not always covered in the “unicorn” glorification of startups. From new models of working (remote, flexible, job-sharing, reduced workdays), to leaders sharing co-CEO roles, to building companies while on parental leave—we’ve got a lot of fascinating stories we want to unearth and share, and we’re in the middle of doing it.
